As a responsible pet owner (I have a dog and a Guinea pig) I have with some frequency to solve the problem of care — buying food, visiting vets and dog handlers, buy toys, club visit, vaccinations, and more. Moreover, in some point I was faced with the fact that not every vet can solve the problem of Guinea pigs (they are considered exotic animals) and I learned about the existence of specialists on rodents — catalogo. Visiting different vets, I was faced with the fact that they all live apart, mostly professional communication takes place in the framework of the network of clinics as well — you have limited information you can transfer from one doctor And another doctor of the clinic B. the Maximum to which you have access to a brief statement and a prescription required to buy drugs. Of course, few people are satisfied and we decided to solve this problem.

The result was a platform CosmoZoo (http://cosmozoo.co). Many born in the late '70s and early' 80s of the last century, probably remember the writer Kir Bulychev, presented its readers with Alice Seleznev, whose father, Professor Igor Seleznev was Director of the Moscow space zoo, Kosmoso. And these kind, a bit naive children's books gave the name of our project and I hope that they will remind you that you have to be ready for pleasant discoveries and interesting adventures that, in addition to the daily routine, waiting for us in this world.

The first thing we decided to help the vets and give them the communication tools with customers and make common to all electronic medical records (EMRs) of the animal. I must say that the overall EHR for clinics are very painful because any medical error will be forever saved in history and can be used by competitors as an attempt of unfair competition. Also, many doctors are afraid that the data in medical records can cause customer churn them in favor of competitors. Well — challenge accepted and pooled our tasks had to record the need to clarify that the client still chooses the doctor and the clinic with which his work and the history of the treatment of animals is unlikely to influence his choice, soon — reviews of former patients.
For development, I attracted several of his colleagues from Progress Engine. We have formed a scope of work for the first phase, which we can leave to our users and partners, will tell a little about them.

One of the first tasks was to provide high conversionist leads. Initially, we implemented the standard functionality is authentication using email/password and social networks — Facebook, vKontakte, Twitter, Google. But at some point we realized that one of the main means of communication is mobile communication, and also that on mobile devices it is easier to receive SMS with the password we changed our strategy and left only the authentication number.
Another thing we noticed is the ability to create family accounts. We decided to make data access a pet for each family member, each family has a head who is responsible for all organizational and financial matters.

In principle, all the functionality is quite logical and transparent. Each pet requires attentive care, especially if it is a purebred animal. For example, I learned that for a dog the Chihuahua is very important that at the age of 1 year she changed baby fangs on the root, so if the teeth are not replaced, it is necessary to visit the vet, otherwise it will be a malocclusion. To pet owners not missed a particular problem we decided to create a system of reminders. Also it can get reminders from veterinarians, not to miss vaccinations and geo-targeted reminders of the need to buy a collar against ticks in the case of, for example, epidemics of encephalitis in specific locations.
The following problem often encountered by owners of animals, especially during the Christmas holidays, when dogs are scared of fireworks — a loss of animals. I regularly see in the tape facebook that someone I knew lost a dog during a walk and be honest — did not even venture to imagine what would happen if our dog ran away. I've seen a number of communities and sites, which regularly publish information about lost and found animals and want to believe that most people and animals are reinventing each other. We decided to approach this task a little more tech and made informing people, lost and found animals on the basis of several criteria such as type of animal, date, location, approximate color match, etc. All parameters have their weight and ads that have greater weight are displayed above all others. In fact we even started to think about computer vision and neural networks to implement in the future a more accurate search, but so far early to speak about it :)

It's all quite prosaic. In every clinic there are doctors and administrators who decide organizational matters. There are dashboard applications have the ability to work with EMK — all that Chet has been described above. But there are certain features that I want to tell you.
First, in order to deliver veterinarians fear that someone will call them customers, we have allowed access only to those user profiles that appealed to the clinic and told your phone number (respectively mobile). So, I talked about the basic functions of the platform, and now a few words about what to expect in the near future.

1. Mobile clients. This is perhaps one of the high priorities of the project. It is difficult to imagine high-tech project without a mobile client, more mobile applications are increasingly personalized user experience. On the smartphone screen more difficult to miss a notification that it is necessary to scratch the cat behind the ear than in the browser window, so we still have a body count to justify the confidence of users in the field and taking care of their Pets :)

2. API for developers. And here already will be able to deploy in full the talents of the developers and to build around the platform, the whole ecosystem that will solve more problems for users and it will allow you to offer new services based on the needs of their animals.

3. Retail pet foods and pet products. Another stage of development of the platforms offer relevant products for Pets, of course delivery convenient for owners time. We already have several partners-retailers, who look forward to this functionality, but we are always ready to make new friends in different parts of the world.

4. The possibility of paying with card. I think here the comments are superfluous :)

5. Analyst. Not exactly near, but still future. We plan to provide access to analytical information to research organizations and independent researchers on the basis of these data to improve the feed quality, safety of drugs, and of course most importantly — the health of your Pets.
