Dear Hebraically! Now came the big moment when we can announce a new course, a revolutionary project that will shake the very foundations of the universe and radically change the landscape of the Network!

How many announcements have you seen? I think a lot. So I decided to put aside the idiotic-enthusiastic language of press releases and talk quietly, what was the project Seamayor.com and then talk to its Creator, Sergei Smirnov. Since we've known each other a long time, since the beginning of the two thousandth, and I always enjoyed watching his progress through the seas of business and music. So when he decided to launch a new, and, from my point of view, it is an interesting project, I in turn, decided to help him with the promotion of habré and to write this post.



History of the project started a few years ago. As usual, Sergey wouldn't have thought, and quietly did small and medium-sized businesses, from graphic design, building small web projects to marketing advice for large business. The work of the consultant itself implies a constant search and exploration of new niches. Calm search that soon can be called "holding the nose" in order not to miss the opportunity if it presented itself.

And, of course, one day, Sergey she introduced herself. Friends of the founder of the Seamayor.com people to make their company a pleasant and easy trip on a rented sailing yacht on the Adriatic. Sergei, being before full of confidence, that rest on yachts, sea travel and sea fishing is the prerogative of the very rich and the very rich, I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. Open sea seen from aboard a relatively small vessel, whose team are close and familiar people, made an indelible impression on him.

There is the business definition, Blue Ocean, Blue Ocean. In short, it represents a large and untapped market, which, for a number of reasons, almost nobody managed to gain a foothold. In such a market and became Seamayor the sea, traveling, fishing, diving, and any other related places, things, events and phenomena. What were your first impressions of the experience with sea travel, fishing, regattas? Why project chosen this niche?


To be honest, I was amazed at how developed this kind of holiday abroad. And, of course, I had no idea what this holiday is available to people with average incomes. Besides, I saw what a large number of people around the world loves to go yacht sailing on the seas and oceans, diving, sailing, fishing and do other pleasant things associated with it. After some time I realized that all of them – a huge and grateful audience, which, in fact, a single convenient technological platform for communication, exchange of opinions, discussion of what is an important part of their lives.

A quick Google search even more adopted me the idea that there is a large unmet demand for a resource that is able to unite lovers of the sea around the world. Everything I saw — the antediluvian local services, covering one or two waters, and besides, technically they were terrible and made in the stone age. The desire to give people the opportunity to mark on the map of interesting places to talk about them, post photos, share opinions became insurmountable. Along the way, we are strengthened in mind that you need to make a competent route planner with the ability to calculate in advance the speed, route, fuel consumption, everything that usually bothers waterfowl.

Now particularly relevant topic of geolocation services, FourSquare users as usual marked in its favorite places and institutions compete for the status of the mayor. And I love the sea favorite place is exactly what it is. That's why we chose the title, emphasizing this fact.
Of course, we mainly focused the Seamayor.com for Western audiences. The main reason for this is obvious: there is much more developed infrastructure, the number of owners of private vessels is much higher, and people relate to openness slightly differently. Let me explain: in Russia of 100% of the people who love sea holidays, diving, fishing, sailing and related stuff, about 10% are a hardened sea wolves, treat this like sports. Another 10% are just beginning to discover the joys of the sea. And the remaining 80% are owners or tenants of a huge and expensive yachts, their friends, colleagues and acquaintances, people absolutely non-public and closed, far from the Network.

What is the model of the user interacting with the service? Functionality?

The same applies to adventures. In this section collected all kinds of sea travel. They are divided into regions and focus: professional, romantic, historical, gastronomic, around the world, and many others.

Consequently, each of the routes, you have something to add, comment on, discuss, "post" in Facebook or Twitter and so on.

Soon we plan to introduce other functions, focused on professionals and enthusiasts of marine tourism and sailing about them below.

What's the technical side of the project? Who programmed the site where it is located physically, how you will cope with the influx of visitors?

Programming and design themselves, I came up with the concept, my friend was implemented. Periodically attracted additional forces, especially during the introduction of new features and testing them. Now we are developing an iOS app using the wonderful Studio from the city of Smolensk – Coalla and I hope soon all the sea wolves begin without a stop check in at various points. Yet we place the site at the site in Germany, and subsequently planned three separate clusters for the United States, Europe and Asia. From the point of view of load balancing we plan to actively use cloud and dedicated solutions to the loaded web projects.
How you plan to monetize? What do you think about foreign investment?


Methods of monetization Seamayor there are several. One of them involves interaction with the owners and operators of marinas, Marina, beach restaurants and many other places, which will not prevent an interested audience. Accordingly, we could provide them with certain tools of communication with the sailors and travelers in the surroundings or simply interested in the region of their location – the model close to Foursquare. In addition, we plan to introduce additional services for users on the freemium model when the underlying service functionality available to all users, and they can purchase additional features in the version Skipper. And, of course, we do not exclude the standard advertising model when the website features graphical advertising point modules, the so-called featured places.

As regards investment, it is possible to say that the project is fully launched on own funds and at this stage does not need a serious third-party financing. However, in the future we plan to attract up to $ 10 million from American venture capital funds and already are consulting with experts.
